Why hire a traditional human editor, Part II

In April, I described my first experience of AI editing. At the time, I was receiving work from a firm that was developing an AI system.

I have now learned more about AI large language systems and the way they consume the documents they process, assimilating phrases and words and using them to create new content. AI editing systems and products are getting better and more effective, not because they are inherently creative, but because they are absorbing millions of original human thoughts and ideas. The most important reason to use a traditional human editor is to protect your unpublished research from AI plagiarism.

It is not always obvious when an editing service is using AI. Current data-protection guidelines do not require AI transparency or informed consent.

You can protect your intellectual property by selecting your editing service carefully, asking direct questions about AI, and choosing an AI-free provider.
